Welcome to the Hindley Music Festival 2009.

In putting together the line up for the 2009 St. Peter’s Festival I have tried to bring together a plethora of musical styles with something to appeal to all ages. 

St. Peter’s forms an ideal venue both friendly and at the same time imposing in its grandness, the organ and piano happily co-existing side by side with a reminder of the past, watching over us, in the mighty Schultz organ at the West End of the church.

I would like to thank a number of people without whom this festival would not have been possible.  Stephen, our vicar, has been a great source of help and support as have been the many individual members of the congregation who have offered help financially and in their time which has been given freely and willingly.

Sharon and the staff and pupils of St. Peters Primary School have greatly helped too in supporting the events, offering venues for rehearsals and willing participants in the competition and daily events.

Of course it would not be possible for an event like this to succeed without the many performers, helpers and participants. A great ‘thank you’ must go out to all helpers.

Everything must evolve and I hope that this Festival will evolve over the coming years, the Festival Competition will be open to older children and adults in future years as support and encouragement have already earmarked this as an area for future development.

Above all else, I hope that you all enjoy the many events being staged this week.
