The music program explained
If you have bought a copy of Sibelius and it is still sitting on your desk, read on.
Sibelius can be so useful for any musician wanting to arrange or compose music for choir, instrumental group, band etc. But there are so many aspects to it that you can become frustrated.
Why not embark on a short 4 week introductory course and learn the basics of this truly remarkable piece of software in a friendly, easy-going atmosphere together with a small group of like minded musicians.
Fees: A 4 week course costs just £25 which includes room hire at Education Matters, 22 Cambridge Rd, St Helens and light refreshments
Requirements:
A laptop running any version of Sibelius but there will be 5 laptops available for use if you do not have one [first come/first served basis]
A USB Flash drive to store your documents.
The course will be tailored around your needs but will include the following:
Creating a new score
Adding instruments to the score
Selecting key signatures and time signatures
Changing key signatures and time signatures
Adding and changing bar lines
Adding basic line of lyrics including changing Font size and appearance
Note input via the mouse
Note input via a MIDI keyboard
Adding repeat marks
1st and 2nd time bars
Setting a metronome mark
Cutting and pasting selections of notes
Using 'cut and paste' to quickly create new sections of a composition or to construct the basics of a piano accompaniment
Transposing a section of notes
Multiple staves
Using the MIXER to change the sounds
Adding additional lines of lyrics
Saving your work
Saving your work in a different format
eg an older version of Sibelius
a MIDI File
a Scorch File
a graphic file
Printing individual parts for instruments and choir.
