Musicians wanted!

St. John's Methodist Church in Hindley needs a musician for Sunday evening worship (6pm).  We are currently worshipping in the church hall while the church building is repaired, but there is an organ, a piano and a keyboard available.  We would also be very happy to hear from players of other instruments.  If you can only manage occasional weeks, that would still be a help to us.  If you are able to help, please contact the minister: kathyselby@hotmail.com

A letter from Joan

Dear Friends,

As I write this I am preparing for my final few weeks as a teacher in school. The last twelve years have flown by, there has been much laughter, a few tears, a little sadness but so much love that I can’t feel anything other than very blessed to have been part not only in the life of the school, but also in the life of the Church.

Over twenty years ago, I answered God’s call by becoming a teacher, this calling was to then develop into Readership and now I am preparing for my new position as Deputy Headteacher  at St Anne’s C.E. Primary School Standish Lower Ground.

There are many things and many people to whom I am very grateful, first and foremost God has blessed me with a wonderful husband in Gary and three beautiful children in Megan , Catherine and David ( although those of you who have encountered my David on Friday afternoons, having lunch in the meeting room may think otherwise!), secondly I have had the opportunity to work alongside a fantastic team of teachers, support staff, lunchtime organisers, kitchen staff, caretakers and superb children ( from whom I have learned a great deal), thirdly but by no means last of all, I have had the privilege of getting to know many of you who attend the Church, St Peter’s has been a place where I have been allowed to grow in both faith and ability and for this I shall be eternally thankful.

Where ever  I may be in my journey serving God I shall look back on my time with you all, with great fondness, and yes although there will be tears on my last day, I can also say that there will be tears of both sadness and joy,  sadness as I feel that both Church and School have played a huge part in my life and in the life of my family (and I am absolutely hopeless at saying goodbye!), yet tears of joy because having learned as I have over the last twelve years I now have the courage to take that learning to somewhere new, to hopefully give as many other lives the ‘Lawless touch’ as I have done at St Peter’s.

I wish you all every happiness for the future, I will keep in touch and let you know how things are going ( I’ve promised David that we have fixed dates with Vicar Stephen and Joyce on Friday afternoons…) I will always keep you all in my heart and in my prayers.

God bless

Joan
