Music Department Ramblings

Lots of exciting developments to report as we gradually expand our ministry into different areas of our church.

The Choir is working hard on a terrific anthem for Easter called ‘The Heavens are telling’ from Haydn’s creation as well as preparing psalm chants etc. for Compline. Try to catch some of these services which will be taking place on Thursday evenings before our Choir Practice.  We are also rehearsing some new settings for the Eucharist that I have composed for St. Peter’s.

The ‘Baptism Singers’, as they are now called, are doing an excellent job in singing for the 12.30 Baptisms, creating a lovely atmosphere for newcomers as they join us after the 11 o clock service.  In fact several of our normal congregation have lingered to hear us and commented on the lovely atmosphere.  Well done everyone.

Following my recent visit to the Boys Brigade I hope to be presenting some new musicians to the Family Service within the next few months and I hope to extend this opportunity to the young ladies in the Guides too.  If any of you play guitar, keyboard, drums or simply fancy a turn singing with us then get in touch, we will most likely start practicing on the first Thursday of the month at the Pavilion – times to be announced.
