School
Dear Friends,
I can’t believe that we are approaching the end of another school year, my third at St. Peter’s. Well, they say that time flies when you are having fun and I certainly have that privilege every day.
This time of year there is flurry of activity, welcoming new people and saying goodbye to others. This year, Mrs Lawless will be leaving us to take up her promoted post as Deputy Headteacher of St. Anne’s C. of E. Primary School at Standish Lower Ground. She has been an extremely valued member of our school team for a number of years and I know that you will want to join with me in wishing her well for her future role at her new school. I am sure that she will make a great difference to those around her.
Also, we have another valued member of our team at School and in Before and After School Club leaving us for a different direction. Miss Willison will take up her new post at Wigan and Leigh College Nursery in September and we want to wish her all the best. Our loss is their gain.
It is also time to wish Miss Roberts, our graduate teacher, all the best as she sets out on the first steps of her teaching career.
Of course all of our leavers in Year 6 are setting out on their own fantastic journeys to adulthood. May their journeys see them fare well, be happy and find them progressing smoothly with our hopes and good wishes that they find fulfilment in all they undertake in the future.
In terms of welcoming, we want to bring into our family at St. Peters our new full time teacher Mr Britner and our Graduate Teacher Mr Murray. We look forward to them meeting us this term and then joining us full time in September. I am sure they will bring new dimensions to our school and we look forward to this exciting development.
It is always a pleasure for me to see learning in action across our school. I will try to give you a snap shot of the joys I experience daily. The most memorable moments this week have been from Year 6& 2 together, Year 1 and Reception. In Year 1, I was served a most delicious meal in the café from Daisy, with the menu created by Holly and all within my price range! (Vicar Stephen, it could be competition for Fridays!) The choice was extensive and the cost accurately calculated by the chef…I just couldn’t decide if I should have pancakes with or without syrup! In Reception I am greeted loving by David every morning who enthusiastically tells me he has his number brain in, and when Mrs Dowd asked Jack if he was ready, he replied, “Mrs Dowd, I was born ready!” Doesn’t it just put a smile on your face. Seeing Year 6 working with Year 2 children on maths games that they had created for them was wonderful to behold. The care, support and attention given repaid with excitement, enthusiasm and positive praise. We are so lucky here.
