A Stranger’s Reaction to St. Peter’s Church

My daughter lives the other side of Wigan and had never come to St. Peter’s before Palm Sunday, after I had invited her to come to see the dramatised reading of the St. Matthew Passion.

Her comment was, ‘This church has a wonderful atmosphere; you can just feel the friendliness in it.’

She was particularly impressed with our attitude towards children

So, thank you St. Peter’s for welcoming strangers into our congregation and making them feel they were among friends.

...... a lovely comment from one of our Parishioners.

I think the name of Church Factor should be renamed to the Feel Good Factor! No-one could escape the feel good factor given out today. Well done to everyone involved. Today was a true celebration of praising God. The whole church ROCKED!!! Wonderful to be alive. Thanks to Jim and yourself Anita, for your energies, creating such a special time for worship.

Do you have a couple of hours a week free to help with a variety of important jobs in the church?

·       Thursday Evenings from 6 – 7 pm - help with peeling vegetables for Friday Lunches.

·       Friday mornings – help with Friday Lunches (serving, washing up etc)

·       Thursday 9.30am (alternate weeks) – help with the general cleaning of the church – dusting, polishing, hoovering etc.

·       Volunteers for a rota to help with Crèche and Special Branch (Sunday School) at the 11am Service each week.    Ask Jim or Cynthia if you are able to help with this important ministry.

All these tasks offer a wonderful opportunity for fellowship with others and your help would be greatly appreciated.  Please speak to any of the wardens.

Thank You

ALPHA COURSE

·               Would you like to find out more about living as a Christian?

·               Do you wonder what happens after death?

·               Want to know more about the Holy Spirit?

·               How should we relate to other faiths?

The Alpha Course has been used all over the world for over twenty years and has been responsible for bringing new Christians to faith in Jesus, answering lots of important questions and revitalizing whole congregations.

It is designed to suit all ages and all backgrounds – from those who have never attended church to lifelong churchgoers.  It is very relaxed and informal, with a short film or talk followed by small group discussions and some worship.

Would you like to give it a try?

St Peter’s will be running Alpha from the beginning of March for 12 weeks.  Sessions will take place every Monday evening from 7.45 – 9.30 at the Pavilion.  We would like to encourage everyone to come along to this so that we can grow not only our individual faiths but also as a congregation.

More information will be on display in church very soon, but please speak to Vicar Stephen for more information.
