The Vicar Second Chance

You don’t get a second chance to create a good first impression

The PCC looked at this statement at its last meeting in relation to our beloved Church.  What impression do people have of St Peter’s? The impression that most people get of St Peter’s is that we are a warm, welcoming and caring fellowship. It is a place where all should feel that they are valued and belong. We are not perfect by any means and there is always room for improvement.

At its next meeting, the PCC will consider ways in which to improve the image that people have of us. We will be looking at the Church building – sorting out the three areas where there has been some water ingress – once this has been sorted we are going to look at the complete redecoration of Church. We will also look at new inner doors, perhaps wood and glass; doors that you can see through and more importantly, doors that keep out the draughts.  We also need to look at handrails at the outside doors to make it easier for people entering the Church.

It is right that we look at these issues; however it is also right that we look at the warmth of our welcome when people come through our doors. Do they see happy smiling faces or faces that would turn a lemon sour? Do they feel that Church is an oasis of peace or a place of frantic activity? Do members of our Church feel valued and that they have a place within our fellowship?

Please remember all PCC members in your prayers as we discuss, pray and move forward in our task of being the servants of God in this place.
